1. At the request of WHO, support WHO in implementation of the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014-2023.
2. In agreement with WHO and at its request, provide technical support to WHO on the development of WHO's International Herbal Pharmacopoeia and its relevant technical documents.
Dr. WEI is the Deputy Director of the Institute for Control of Chinese Traditional Medicine and Ethnic Medicine (ICCTMEM), National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC). His main research areas involve quality control and safety evaluation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), development of reference substances for TCM, establishment and review of standards for TCM, etc.
He also serves as the Member of National Pharmacopoeia Committees, Member of the Expert Consultation Committee on Traditional Chinese Medicine Quality Analysis and Chinese Medicinal Materials of the Center for Drug Evaluation, National Medical Products Administration, Senior Inspector for Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) of Drugs of the National Medical Products Administration, Member of the Expert Working Group on Good Agricultural Practice (GAP) of Chinese Medicinal Materials, Member of the Expert Guidance Group on GAP of Chinese Medicinal Materials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Member of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TC477), and Member of the International Expert Committee on Traditional Medicines of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and HealthCare (EDQM).
